The Healthy Chino Employee Wellness Program is designed for City of Chino employees to partake in wellness activities during their work hours.  Some of the programs we offer are:

 

·        Weekly recreation classes: Basketball, golf, tennis and yoga are offered to city employees to encourage and promote exercise and fitness.

 

·        Walking:  for groups and individuals, each person keeps track of their steps with a pedometer provided to them.  The goal is to walk around the world 25,000 miles in 2006.

 

·        Healthy Eating: to promote healthy food options for meetings, vending machines, after school programs and on a daily basis.

 

·        Guest Speakers/Seminars: to promote and provide information to city employees on nutrition, skin care, foot care and healthy lifestyle options.

 

Newsletter articles: to provide city employees with information on ongoing programs, tips, accomplishments, facts on nutrition, health issues, and healthy recipes.

Adult Beginner Golf Lessons for New or Novice Golfers

Under the instruction of Rick Hunter, PGA 2006 Inland Empire Teacher of the Year, learn basic full swing, short game skills, safety, etiquette, and more.  Open to employees, family members and friends 17-years or older.

When: Thursdays, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. – April 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15 OR

            Saturdays, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. – April 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17

Location: El Prado Golf Courses, 6555 Pine Avenue, Chino, CA 91710

Cost: $85 – Class size 4-10. Open to City employees, family and friends

Requirement: Must be 17 years of age or older.

Register: Return entry form and payment to the Carolyn Owens Community Center by April 10.  Make checks payable to Rick Hunter.

Curriculum: Learn basic full swing and short game skills.  Safety.  Etiquette.  Equipment.

Equipment: Golf clubs will be supplied if needed.

Dress Code: Dress for the weather.  Sport shirts, slacks or Bermuda shorts, and tennis shoes are acceptable.

Purpose: To prepare you for playing golf at the golf course.

Future: Must complete Level I to continue to Level II.

Gym Exercise Club

Location: Chino Senior Center

Hours for City Employees: 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Procedures: Register at the Carolyn Owens Center prior to beginning your workouts. Bring City Employee ID or other proof of employment at the time of work-out. Sign in at the front counter of the Senior Center.

Employee Rates: $10 per month OR $25 per 3 months

Weight Watchers

We are pleased to bring an At-Work meeting opportunity to City of Chino employees and their families.

The program offers private Weight Watcher meetings designed for working men and women.  Meetings are about 1 hour and include weigh-in, discussion, goal setting and motivation.

THREE PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE

12 weeks for $168 - 15 person minimum

17 weeks for $186 - 20 person minimum including free eTools (savings plan)

17 weeks for $238 - 15 person minimum including free eTools

StairWell Employee Art Competition
Healthy Chino announces a call to artists for entries in the “StairWell Journey” judged exhibit.

Artwork will be displayed in the stairwells at the west employee entrance to City Hall.  Exhibition winners will be determined by employee votes.  The Grand Prize winner will receive a One-Year Adult YMCA Membership and a $50 Foot Solutions’ Gift Card.  The grand prize winner and two runners-up will have their works displayed on Healthy Chino’s online gallery.
