Orthodontic problems have increased in the past decades. The approach to treatment and the introduction of modern technology have evolved over time. From misalignment of teeth to complex dental issues, orthodontic treatment offers a solution. For many people, misaligned teeth are caused by various factors, and exploring suitable dental product options can play an important role in supporting treatment. A human smile is considered the universal truth for happiness. You must maintain good oral hygiene to keep your smile healthy. However, it is crucial for you to understand the common orthodontic problems and their treatment option for better clarity.

    COMMON ORTHODONTIC PROBLEMS

Orthodontic problems can vary from one person to another. The nature, severity, and complexity of the case decide the treatment plan provided. The common orthodontic problems faced by most people are listed below:

    1. Overbite and Underbite: An overbite happens when your upper front teeth are significantly over your lower front teeth. An underbite happens when your lower front teeth are excessively over the front upper teeth. Both conditions affect your speech and chewing capacity. In some of the cases, it also alters the shape and appearance of your face.
    2. Tooth Misalignment: A misaligned tooth is one of the most common orthodontic problems faced by many people. Tooth misalignment can lead to overcrowding, crooked teeth, and gaps between your teeth. Misalignment can cause difficulties in cleaning your teeth, which eventually accumulates bacteria.
    3. Crowding and Spacing Issues: The Crowding problem happens when your teeth do not fit in your mouth. This causes strain on your jaw. More space between the teeth could impact the efficiency of chewing. It can also impact your smile.

However, there are additional orthodontic problems apart from the three stated above. Cross bites, impacted teeth, and open bites are additional common orthodontic problems.

    GENERAL TREATMENT OPTIONS

Despite various orthodontic problems, there are solutions available. Some of the general treatments given for patients suffering from orthodontic treatment are listed below:

    1. Braces: Braces are the most effective treatment given for various orthodontic problems. Use of braces can effectively solve the problem of biting issues, crowding, and misalignment. Braces come in multiple forms that apply gradual pressure to your teeth to shift them towards the desired position.
    2. Clear Aligners: Invisalign treatment has gained tremendous appeal among the youth. Due to its discreet treatment, it has gained such popularity. These transparent aligners can be used for correcting misaligned teeth.
    3. Retainers: Retainers are effective after getting treatment. It will help your teeth to maintain stability in their new position. These retainers can be removed or fixed during treatment. Retainers are significant for maintaining optimal results achieved through aligners or braces.

    CONCLUSION

Any orthodontic problem must be addressed soon. If left unattended, the complexity of your case might increase. Choosing the right treatment for you will become challenging. Therefore, it is advisable to consult an orthodontist before deciding on the course of treatment.
